Religious Education

As a Catholic school we hold Religious Education (RE) as the 'core of the core' subject.  By this we mean that RE is embedded throughout our entire curriculum in all subject areas, via our GROWTH curriculum.

For the teaching and learning of RE, we follow the 'Come and See' scheme of work as recommended by Liverpool Archdiocese.

Each term children study topics to develop their understanding of the following themes:

  • Church
  • Sacraments
  • Christian Living

Each topic lasts for four weeks and follows this sequence:

Explore:  pupils are introduced to the topic through their own lived experiences

Reveal:  The children learn abouth the Catholic faith through Scripture

Respond:  Pupils reflect on and celebrate their learning which ends with  a collective worship.

As part of our Come and See programme, we have 'faith weeks' where the children will learn about other faiths, traditions, beliefs and special buildings.

We promote our pupils' learning of other faiths through class visits, guest speakers and through our involvement in the wider community.
