You will find lots of information in the files section below which will be added to as the year progresses.
General Information:
Staffing:
Mrs Houghton - class teacher
Mrs Hayton - teaching assistant
P.E.
Our P.E days are Monday and Thursday. Children should come to school wearing their P.E. kit on these days.
Water:
Children are encouraged to drink plenty during the day. Please ensure that they bring a suitable plastic water bottle to school daily. These should be taken home each evening and refilled for the next day.
Homework:
We follow the same homework policy and routine throughout the school. Homework will be given on a Friday and should be completed by the following Friday.
Y3 homework consists of:
Spellings./Grammar/Handwriting - a spelling rule is introduced on a Friday and we practise this rule every day the following week. The children are tested on this rule the following Friday. The spelling test is completed at the back of your child's homework book so that you may keep a check on progress. I usually incorporate some grammar and handwriting into the spelling task.
Reading - this should be done every evening. Diaries are checked once weekly and two/three entries are expected each week. Please refer to the letter in the files section for more information.
Maths - this consists of learning multiplication and division facts. Children should be confident in their 2, 5 and 10 times tables by the end of Y2 which we consolidate in Y3. In addition, children in Y3 are expected to know confidently multiplication and division facts in their three, four and eight times tables. Children should work through the tables that are appropriate for them and of course may go beyond if capable. TT Rockstars is a wonderful resource in which to lear tables.
Additional homework such as maths booklets to consolidate or research tasks may be given from time to time.
